By taxi from Lakeside

Sarangkot is only about 4 km from Phewa Lake as the crow flies, but the road climbs round the back of the ridge: about 12 km, 30–45 minutes from Lakeside. The last stretch is narrow and steep, so plan to arrive before dark, and expect slower going after monsoon rain.

From Pokhara International Airport

Flights from Kathmandu have landed at Pokhara International Airport since 1 January 2023. They take about 25–30 minutes, and weather delays are common. From the airport it is about 15 km by road to us, roughly 40–50 minutes by taxi up the hill.

Older guides give about 6 km from the airport: that was the old domestic airport in town, which Kathmandu flights no longer use. Since late September 2026 the new airport also has daily flights from Dubai.

By cable car

The Annapurna Cable Car climbs from Sedi Bagar, on the north-west shore of Phewa Lake, to the Sarangkot ridge: 2.2 km in about nine minutes, from 5 AM daily. A free shuttle bus runs from Lakeside to the bottom station. From the top station the lodge is a short walk; ask us for the way when you book. With a light bag, it is the easiest way up.

Fares, hours and tips are in our Sarangkot cable car guide.

On foot from Lakeside

A signed trail climbs from near the cable car's bottom station: about 8 km from central Lakeside, with some 800 m of climbing, much of it on stone steps through forest. Published guides give 2.5–3 hours up and 1.5–2 hours down. Walk it in daylight.

Routes and times are in our Lakeside to Sarangkot hiking guide.

From Kathmandu

Fly to Pokhara in about 25–30 minutes, or take a tourist bus along the Prithvi Highway: about 200 km, and 7–9 hours or more while stretches of the road are rebuilt (as of September 2026). Buses leave Kathmandu at about 07:00–07:30. Either way, the last leg is one of the routes above.
